Patakha Pictures provides funding and mentorship to the next generation of female storytellers and filmmakers creating powerful, thought-provoking works of fiction and non-fiction. We are in search of the human experience and compelling visions for the future, enabling the use of Virtual Reality, where appropriate, as the medium for enhancing these experiences. By providing support to budding filmmakers interested in creating VR animation and film for streaming purposes, we hope to be able to harness the power of this technology to increase awareness and evoke empathy among future audiences.
Patakha Pictures creates and encourages content that focuses on sensitive topics within our society, including topics such as domestic violence, minority issues, climate change, peace building as well as art and culture.
The Pakistan Stories program aimed to support a new generation of female Pakistani documentary filmmakers who wanted to create engaging films that reflect on and question our society and its 75 years of independence. 10 emerging filmmakers joined online documentary workshops where they explored documentary creativity for the international film festival market which was followed by a gathering for an intensive week in Karachi to finalize the edit of their films. The program ended with a celebratory event in Islamabad where the teams had a chance to discuss their work with a group of relevant stakeholders.
